Swallowing Disorders (Dysphagia)
This condition is related to one of several
neurological conditions. A person with a swallowing
disorder may have problems at any phase of the
swallowing process, during the oral phase, when
food is moved into the throat, during the pharyngeal
phase, as the airway is closed and food is moved
down the throat, or during the esophageal phase,
when food is squeezed down the esophagus to the
stomach.
